Eight years ago, Christy Solar took her first mortgage job as a loan officer. She admits that she didn’t know much about the business.
Christy was working at a family-owned rural Louisiana bank that was closing after 100 years where she did agricultural and other consumer loans and worked on a safe fixed salary. Not liking the prospects of a long drive to go to work at a big bank, she was enticed to take a risk: Jump into the residential mortgage business on commission.
Licensed since May 2011, she made Scotsman Guide’s list of top originators in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan in her first full year. She has been recognized every year since for her USDA production. Solar has also been ranked in the top 1% of Mortgage Loan officers for many years. In 2015, Christy received the First Business Courage Award presented by the Duncan Group. She specializes in government purchase loans. Christy lives in Denham Springs, Louisiana with her husband Mike and their 3 children; Claire, Michael, and Chloe’.
